Welcome to Queer Work
Empowering LGBTIQ+ Refugees through Employment and Education
About Queer Work:
Queer Work is a pioneering initiative dedicated to supporting LGBTIQ+ refugees in Amsterdam and Utrecht. Founded by Sajad Salmanpour, Queer Work seeks to create an inclusive environment where individuals can access the resources and networks they need to thrive. Our mission is to empower LGBTIQ+ refugees through tailored support, training, and guidance, facilitating their integration into the workforce and educational systems.
Why Queer Work?
LGBTIQ+ refugees often face unique challenges that can hinder their ability to find stable employment and pursue education. Discrimination, language barriers, and lack of social networks are common obstacles. Queer Work recognizes these difficulties and aims to bridge the gap by offering specialized support and creating a safe, inclusive space for personal and professional growth.
Our Team
In addition to founder Sajad Salmanpour, Queer Work is supported by a dedicated team, including Samira Hakim, Rahma el Hannoufi and Chris Bouma. Together, they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the project, ensuring a comprehensive and empathetic approach to supporting our participants.

Our Approach
The Queer Work project operates in two parallel phases: group coaching and personal coaching.
Group Coaching: In this phase, we focus on work and educational values, reflecting on past experiences, and updating skills to stay current. This collaborative environment allows participants to learn from each other and build a supportive community.
Personal Coaching: Based on the specific needs of each participant, we offer in-depth, individualized support. This tailored approach ensures that each person receives the guidance and resources necessary to achieve their unique goals.
Participation in Queer Work is free, but we ask for a commitment from our participants to fully engage with the opportunities provided. Spaces are limited, so we encourage interested individuals to register promptly.
